Escape to the wilderness of the Scottish Highlands
“Perthshire - the real heart of Scotland..............so much to discover. The area is renowned as a land of outstanding natural beauty; you’ll find mountains, unspoilt heather moorland, tranquil glens and lochs and some of the most magnificent scenery to be found in Scotland.” Visit Scotland 2008.
The Local Area
Gulabin Lodge is located just off the main A93 at the Spittal of Glenshee between Blairgowrie and Braemar. We are ideally located for many of the local visitor attractions; the castles of Balmoral, Braemar, Glamis and Scone Palace are all within easy travelling distance.
Perth and Dundee are only one hour’s drive by car and with Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports all within a two hours' drive, we are well located for any long or short break.
Many outdoor attractions are abundant in the local area. Glenshee boasts its own local pottery, hotels and if you’re visiting for hillwalking, fishing, golfing, mountain biking, horse riding, skiing or partaking in some of the more adventurous activities here at the lodge, there is plenty on offer.
The Surrounding Area
The Perthshire towns of Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Blairgowrie and Perth have long been attracting generations of visitors. They offer plenty to do and see with many shops and local walks.
Attractions to link up on a circular day should include Scone Palace on the outskirts of Perth with Blair Castle on the A9 and Castle Menzies near Aberfeldy. Or heading North, Balmoral Castle and the picturesque villages of Braemar and Ballater are all just a short drive away.
Many distilleries are also close by, including the smallest, Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry, and don’t miss the world’s tallest hedge at Meikleour near Blairgowrie or the oldest living tree in Europe - a yew at Fortingale in Glen Lyon.
Whatever your reason for visiting, your stay will leave you with many memories.
